Mr. Fred Kabanda is the Division Manager, Extractives at the African Natural Resources Centre of the African Development Bank. The division he heads is responsible for advising regional member countries on how they can maximize benefits from oil, gas and mining sectors. Internally within the Bank, the division is responsible for supporting other departments in the extractive sectors.

 

Mr. Kabanda before joining the African Development Bank worked as Assistant Commissioner in Uganda’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development where he served for nearly 25 years. He also previously worked as a lecturer in the Department of Geology and Petroleum Studies at Makerere University.

 

Mr. Kabanda has been involved in extractives policy setting, formulation of laws, regulation of operations and general natural resources management.

 

He is an active member of:

• Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE),

• Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG),

• Geological Society of Africa (GSAf), and

• American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG)
